Rody Molenaar

Hi there! I'm a 23 year old frontend developer from the Netherlands. Specializing in Next.js, Tailwind CSS and React (Native).

Education

I've followed higher general continued education (HAVO in Dutch) from 2012 to 2017. During my time in high school I have participated in multiple extra-curricular activities like the "ICT In De Wolken" (IT In The Clouds) program and participated in the Dutch Microsoft Office Championship in 2015. After passing all exams I received a "Certificate of Academic Excellence" for the English language from "Levende Talen".

I've received an Associate Degree of ICT in Software Development at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences in 2018.

Early work

I started tinkering with basic HTML and CSS in 2009 at 9 years old and have made it my current profession.

Between 2012 and 2016 I, as an adolescent, provided freelance webdesign services to various clients like Global Automotive, MinecraftMarket and Tendonsie Services. During this time I learned to work with CSS pre-processors like LESS and SCSS and build tools like Grunt, Gulp and Webpack.

PHP & Laravel

Between 2013 and 2017 I started developing web applications with PHP and since 2015 with the Laravel PHP framework. I developed a custom CRM solution for Global Automotive.

React & React Native

In 2017, during my education at Windesheim, I started learning React Native for a school project. Together with my team, I created a communications app for stakeholders in software development projects. And was awarded a summer job at Ceasar Experts' Creates, to continue development.

I followed two internships involving React Native, React, Flow and Typescript at Lightbase, bringing my education at Windesheim to an end and starting my career as a fulltime frontend developer at Lightbase.

Current work

At Lightbase, I have introduced Next.js and Tailwind CSS as a standard way of working and have made it my specialization.
